At this time, gift card codes that are created directly in the Shopify admin cannot be imported or migrated into the GV app. This limitation is due to current restrictions within the Shopify Gift Card API, which prevent third-party apps from accessing or managing gift cards generated outside of their own system.
As a result, the GV app can only manage and display gift codes that are issued through gift card products created by the app itself. Gift cards generated directly in Shopify will continue to function normally within Shopify, but they will not appear or be manageable inside the GV app.
We understand that this may be an inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as these limitations are platform-related. Should Shopify expand its API capabilities in the future, we will be happy to reevaluate this functionality.
